REMOVAL OF BLIGHTED PROPERTIES

For more than a decade TNP has purchased blighted properties and had them razed providing the neighborhood with a safer environment in which to live, work and play.  With the City of Altoona’s help these houses in Lower Fairview have been demolished in the past several years removing blight and paving the way for future development.

The Nehemiah Project understands the important role that quality housing plays in restoring deteriorating neighborhoods.  Plans are in the process targeting the Lower Fairview area, to coordinate comprehensive plan involving the following components:

• Acquisition of blighted properties
• Acquisition of vacant lots.
• Demolition of properties that are non-salvageable.
• Renovation of salvageable properties.
• New Construction
• Blight Prevention
• Additional Play and Green Spaces
